Pay Monthly Mobile Phones : Learn
How
do pay monthly contract mobile phones work ?
With a pay monthly contract phone, you sign up to an airtime tariff contract
with one of the mobile networks for a period of 12 months. You may have
to pay a one off connection fee to start your contract, and then each
month you pay a monthly line rental fee.
The amount you pay each month will vary depending on which network and
tariff you have chosen. The monthly line rental fee usually entitles you
to a number of free minutes of air time and this amount varies depending
on your choice of Network and tariff.
If you exceed the number of monthly free minutes you are allocated in
your tariff you are charged extra on a per minute basis.
How do you decide if a
pay monthly phone is suitable for you ?
If you expect to make more than two or three minutes of calls per day
you should consider a pay monthly contract phone. The lower call rates
will almost certainly make up for the connection charge and monthly line
rental fees.
Advantages:
low per minute tariffs;
the ability to roam internationally;
better rates on international calls;
the ability to change your tariff (from month to month) as your needs
change;
access to better-priced and more sophisticated services, such as fax,
data, and mobile Internet;
a simple monthly bill with a detailed breakdown of charges, without the
hassle of buying top-up vouchers
Disadvantages:
committed to paying a monthly line rental payment for a minimum of a 12
month term;
may have to pay a one off connection fee
Summary
The main advantage of a pay monthly contract phone is that its call charges
are usually much lower than those of a pay as you go mobile phone. However,
the disadvantage is that you have to make monthly line rental payments
for at least 12 months.
